The CIRP Simulation Competition 2026 is a unique academic initiative in the field of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Laws. It is organised by NALSAR University of Law in collaboration with Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) under the National Conclave on Insolvency and Bankruptcy Laws 2.0.

This competition provides a practical platform for students to understand and apply real-world Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) procedures.

About the Competition

The CIRP Simulation Competition is designed to simulate the complete lifecycle of insolvency proceedings under Indian law. Participants will:

  • Draft and present resolution plans
  • Argue before simulated NCLT (National Company Law Tribunal) benches
  • Engage with Committee of Creditors (CoC) scenarios
  • Apply provisions of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC)

This initiative helps bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, especially in India’s growing insolvency ecosystem.

Team Structure & Roles

Each team must consist of two members, assigned fixed roles:

  • Member 1:
    • Interim Resolution Professional (IRP)
    • Resolution Professional (RP)
  • Member 2:
    • Resolution Applicant (RA)

👉 Participants must strictly follow their assigned roles throughout the competition.

Competition Structure

Stage 1: Online Submission

  • Mandatory Resolution Plan submission
  • Evaluation based on:
    • Legal compliance with IBC
    • Logical sequencing of CIRP
    • Analytical clarity

Stage 2: Qualifier Rounds (11 April 2026)

  • Inaugural session and briefing
  • Rounds judged as Committee of Creditors (CoC)
  • Selection of semi-finalists

Stage 3: Semi-Finals & Finals (12 April 2026)

  • Semi-final rounds
  • Final round before simulated NCLT Bench
  • Prize distribution and valedictory ceremony

Eligibility Criteria

Students from the following backgrounds can apply:

  • LL.B. (3-year or 5-year) from BCI-recognised universities
  • LL.M. students from UGC-recognised institutions
  • UG/PG students in:
    • Finance
    • Management
    • Economics
    • Related disciplines
