National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) Internship Programme-2026 is one of the most prestigious opportunities. Constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, NALSA provides free legal services to weaker sections of society and organises Lok Adalats for amicable dispute settlement. The internship is designed to acquaint young law students with NALSA’s work and give practical experience in access-to-justice initiatives.

- Organiser: National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi
- Duration: 1 month (four weeks), starting on the 1st day of the chosen month
- Mode: Full-time, physical (in-person) at NALSA office; no stipend/TA-DA/accommodation
- Certificate: Awarded on successful completion with ≥90% attendance; no recommendation letter
Who Can Apply? (Eligibility)
NALSA invites applications from students pursuing:
- 3-year LL.B OR 5-year integrated law course from any recognised university/college/institution.
Preference is given to: - 3rd–5th year students of the 5-year integrated course, and
- 2nd–3rd year students of the 3-year LL.B course (some 2025 notices also list 4th–5th year (5-yr) and 2nd–3rd year (3-yr) as preferred).
Internship Duration & Timing
- One month (four weeks), beginning on the 1st of each month.
- Office hours: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Saturday (second & fourth Saturdays are holidays).
- 90% attendance is mandatory for the certificate—avoid applying during college exams.
Documents required:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)/Resume.
- Expression of Interest (one page or shorter—why you want the internship and why you’re suitable).
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Dean/HoD/Internship & Placement Committee (must mention your name and semester/year).
Application window: The link opens two months before the preceding month of the internship. Example: for a January 2026 batch, apply between 1 Sept 2025 – 30 Nov 2025 (for March 2025, the window was 1 Dec 2024 – 31 Jan 2025).
Selection: Based on draw of lots / merit and the Competent Authority’s decision is final.
Internship Schedule & Exposure
- Day 1: Orientation on NALSA’s objectives, schemes, SOPs, modules, statistical reports.
- Reading material on NALSA’s activities provided.
- Field visits (∼10 days): Delhi State Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authorities, Legal Aid Defense Counsel Office, National Lok Adalat, Remand Courts, CAW Cells, DM Office.
- Special visits: Supreme Court Mediation Centre, Supreme Court Library, Supreme Court Legal Services Committee.
- Final day: Interaction with NALSA team & group photograph.
- Interns must submit a report on work undertaken at the end.
Important Guidelines
- No stipend, TA/DA or remuneration; arrange your own accommodation in Delhi.
- Carry your own laptop for assignments.
- Dress code: Formal black & white (as prescribed by Bar Council of Delhi).
- Discipline & etiquette mandatory; misdemeanour can lead to termination.
- Full-time commitment: Cannot pursue any other course/work during the internship.
- Local travel to courts/offices may be required.
Certification
Certificate is issued only after successful completion to the satisfaction of the Member Secretary, NALSA and meeting the 90% attendance rule. NALSA does not provide recommendation letters.
