NHRC Summer Internship Program 2026
National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) offers a four-week Summer Internship Programme (SIP) 2026′ will commence from 1st June (Monday) to 25th June 2026 (Thursday). Applications are invited from eligible students across the country. Eligibility and selection criteria will be as follows:
- Students who have completed 1st year and are pursuing 2nd or 3rd year LLB (3 years) courses.
- Students who have completed 3 years OR Semester VI of the 5-year Integrated Course of BA LLB/ BBA LLB, etc. and are pursuing 4th and 5th years.
- Students pursuing the LLM Course.
Duration
- Duration: 1st June to 25th June 2026.
- Location: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), New Delhi.
- Maximum Participants: 100 students, with 20 students from Delhi/NCR on a waitlist.
Eligibility Criteria: Human Rights Commission Summer Internship
- Students pursuing 2nd/3rd year of 3-year LLB, 4th/5th year of 5-year integrated BA LLB/BBA LLB, LLM, or PG courses in Human Rights, Social Sciences, etc.
- Must have at least 60% marks in Class XII and each of the first 6 semesters of graduation.
- Age limit: Not more than 28 years as of 1st April 2026.
- Students of UGC-recognised regular courses only.
- Previous attendees of NHRC internship programs are not eligible.
Application Process

- Deadline: 27th April 2026 (18:00 hours).
- Submission: Online via NHRC website (https://nhrc.nic.in).
- Required documents: Attested mark sheets (Class X, XII, first 6 semesters), Letter of Recommendation (Annex-I format), and a 250-word Statement of Purpose (SOP).
- Incomplete applications or those sent via email/post will be rejected.
Selection Criteria

- Merit-based evaluation (100 marks): Class XII (30 marks), Graduation (40 marks), and SOP (30 marks).
- Reservation as per Government of India guidelines.
- Preference for students with research potential in human rights.
Programme Structure

- Includes classroom sessions, interactions with NHRC officials, research projects, book reviews, film screenings, and field visits to various institutions.
Facilities Provided

- Kit/Bag, temporary ID card, library and internet access, meals (lunch, tea/snacks), and packed lunches for field visits.
- Sleeper AC 3-tier train fare reimbursement for outstation interns.
- Stipend: Rs. 12,000 for successful completion.
- Interns must arrange their own accommodation and local transport.
Awards

- Group Research Project: Rs. 15,000 (1st), Rs. 10,000 (2nd), Rs. 5,000 (3rd).
- Book Review: Top 5 interns receive books worth up to Rs. 1,000 each.
- Declamation Contest: Top 3 interns receive books worth up to Rs. 1,000 each.
Rules
- Mandatory attendance for all sessions.
- Certificate awarded based on punctuality, discipline, participation, and timely submission of assignments.
